Privacy policy

Kreida is a Markdown app for macOS. This policy explains what data Kreida handles, where it stays, and how to reach us. It covers the Kreida app and the kreida.ai website.

Who we are

Kreida is operated by Rebbix LTD (Cyprus). For any privacy question or data request, contact hello@kreida.ai.

In short

Kreida has no account and no cloud service of its own. Your notes stay in the folder you choose, and we never receive them. The app makes one kind of request over the internet: the update check. The website sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising.

Your files

Kreida reads the Markdown files in the folder you open, and writes to a file only when you edit it. Your files never leave your Mac through Kreida. If that folder is in iCloud Drive or another cloud folder, that service moves your files under its own terms; Kreida takes no part in it.

Data on your Mac

The app keeps a few things in its own folders on your Mac, never in your notes folder:

• its settings and the folder you last opened;
• a log of what it did, used to diagnose problems. It includes the names and locations of files and folders the app worked with;
• when it combines a change made outside the app with your unsaved edits, copies of the versions it combined, so the result can be checked. It keeps the newest 20 per file.

None of this leaves your Mac unless you choose to send it to us. It lives in ~/Library/Application Support/com.rebbix.kreida and ~/Library/Logs/com.rebbix.kreida; deleting those folders deletes it.

Update checks

When it starts, every few hours while it runs, and when you choose Check for Updates…, the app asks GitHub for the latest version of Kreida and downloads it if there is one. As with any download, GitHub (GitHub, Inc., a Microsoft company) sees your IP address and basic request details, such as the app’s version, and handles them under its own privacy statement. The request carries no account, no identifier and nothing from your files.

If you write to us

If you email us, we receive your email address and what you write, including anything you attach. We use it only to answer you. The app never sends a report on its own.

The website

kreida.ai is a static website. It sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser, loads nothing from other companies and runs no analytics or advertising. The beta sign-up button collects nothing. Like any website, our hosting provider keeps standard request logs (IP address, the page requested and browser details) for a limited time, to deliver and protect the site.

Cookies

The website sets no cookies and uses no other tracking, so there is nothing to consent to and no cookie banner. If that changes, we will update this policy and ask for your consent where the law requires it.

Third parties

• GitHub (GitHub, Inc., a Microsoft company): hosts the app’s downloads and updates. See GitHub’s Privacy Statement.
• Our website hosting provider: delivers kreida.ai.

We do not sell your data, and we share it with no one else.

Legal basis

We handle the little data above on the basis of our legitimate interest in delivering the website and app updates, and in answering you when you write to us.

Retention and deletion

We hold no personal data about you from the app. We keep emails you send us until you ask us to delete them. Data on your Mac is under your control, as described above.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, or object to how we use it, by contacting hello@kreida.ai. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority; in Cyprus, that is the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection. See also our terms of service.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Kreida evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the “last updated” date above.
